Certification Introduction

Kenya COC/PVOC certification is a document required for customs clearance for export to Kenya, which is used for customs clearance of goods in Kenya. If each batch of goods is in the appendix of regulated products listed in Kenya, on-site inspection shall be carried out before shipment to confirm that the products comply with relevant technical regulations and recognized standards in Kenya.

The full name of COC certification is Declaration of Conformity. COC certificate is a necessary customs clearance certificate document for products exported to Middle East and African countries. For goods exported to Saudi Arabia, Iran and other Middle East regions, the customs of the importing country requires the importer to provide the certificate of conformity (COC, Certificate of Conformance) issued by an accredited international certification company for the batch of goods. COC has different forms in different countries. Among them, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in the three East African countries are called PVOC certification. So Kenya COC certification = Kenya PVOC certification. Products in the PVOC catalog must obtain a Certificate of Conformity (COC) before shipment, and provide it to Kenya Customs upon arrival, otherwise it will not be able to enter the country. As an exception, KEBS can accept the importer's application to implement inspection at the Kenyan port of arrival, but the importer will bear 15% of the value of the CIF goods, 15% of the security deposit and inspection and testing costs.

Application Process:

1. Submit IDF, product test report (English) or factory quality system ISO English version + factory English quality inspection report, installation to DW (external certification), a third-party agency authorized by the Kenyan government. Packing list, pro forma invoice, product pictures, packaging pictures and PVoC application form.

(Remarks: Import Declaration Form (IDF) for import license is one of the necessary documents for Kenyan batch inspection, which is applied by the Kenyan importer in the local government agency under the condition of confirming the trade between the two parties.)

2. The third-party agency will review the documents, and arrange the inspection after the review. The inspection is mainly based on visual inspection. The inspection scope is whether the surface quality, quantity, packaging, labeling, marks, etc. of the goods meet the Kenyan standards. (The audit data must be consistent with the bulk goods)

1. Product, inner and outer packaging labels and shelf life

All labels must be in English or Swahili. The country of origin (Made in China) is very important. In addition, basic content such as product model, brand, manufacturer, grade, and category is also required. For bagged products such as food, medicine, cosmetics, etc., the quantity, production date and shelf life of each bag should be marked. Products must be 75% or more of their expiration date upon arrival in Kenya.

2. Counterfeit products

Even if the quality of the counterfeit product meets the standard, the certificate cannot be obtained.

3. Motorcycle

All second-hand motorcycles must comply with the Kenyan KS1515:2000 standard, and some special types of vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, etc. are not applicable to the requirements of "right-hand drive" and "service life".
