Certification Introduction:

GEMS is the abbreviation of the minimum energy efficiency standard requirements specially formulated by Australia to reduce the greenhouse effect. It is managed by the Australian Ministry of Industry and Scientific Development, and is mainly responsible for the implementation of the products required by the GEMS standard, and at the same time provides supervision and inspection.

BACL can provide GEMS mandatory certification services. Energy-consuming products exported to Australia must comply with Australia's minimum energy consumption regulations. The report issued by the authorized agency must be submitted to the Australian Energy Efficiency Agency before it can take effect.

The products applied for mainly include incandescent lamps, double-ended fluorescent lamps, self-ballasted lamps, CFLs, power adapters, refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines, dryers, etc.

Some of the applicable standards are as follows:

• AS/NZS 4934.1 Incandescent lamps for general lighting service- Part 1: Test methods Energy performance.

• AS/NZS 4934.2 Incandescent lamps for general lighting services- Part 2: Minimum Energy Performance Standards(MEPS) requirement.

• AS/NZS 4782.3 Double-capped fluorescent lamps - Performance specifications-Part 3 : Procedure for quantitative analysis of mercury present in fluorescent lamps.

• AS/NZS 4847.1 Self ballasted lamps for general lighting services-part 1: Test methods-Energy performance.

• AS/NZS 4847.2 Self ballasted lamps for general lighting services-part 2: Minimum Energy Performance Standards( MEPS ) requirements.
