Canadian NRCan Certification

Certification Introduction

NRCan is Canada's Energy Efficiency Act (Act) and Energy Efficiency Regulations (Regulation) of the Natural Resources Commission of Canada, which is a regulation for household electrical products, commercial refrigeration equipment, electronic products (battery chargers, compact audio products, Mandatory energy efficiency certification programs for external power supplies, televisions, video products), heating and air conditioning equipment, industrial/commercial equipment, lighting products, and water heater products. Natural Resources Canada mandates that all regulated products must obtain the Energy Verification Mark from a Standards Council of Canada (SCC) accredited certification body.

 

● On January 25, 2021, BACL was authorized by the Canadian SCC-accredited NRCan certification body and laboratory. BACL's approved product range includes: EPS external power adapters, BCS battery charging systems, fluorescent lamps, discharge lamps, lamps, lighting installation systems.

● On September 15, 2021, BACL was recognized by the Canadian SCC again, and the range of products that can issue the Canadian energy efficiency NRCan certification was added: ICS Code: 97.030 Domestic electrical appliances in general Energy Efficiency, such as: audio products Compact audio products, TV Machine Televisions, Video products Video products and so on.

Quebec Electric Appliance Energy Efficiency Regulations:

On May 17, 2017, the Official Gazette of Quebec published a new regulatory document "Regulations on the Energy Efficiency of Electric or Hydrocarbon Fuel Appliances", and the regulations came into force on the 90th day from the date of publication, that is, on August 15, 2017, From now on, all regulated products should meet the new regulatory energy efficiency requirements in Quebec, Canada.

 

Types of products to which the regulations apply include: domestic water heaters, heating or air conditioning appliances, lighting equipment, household electrical appliances, electric motors, dry-type transformers.

 

For lighting equipment mainly include the following categories:

Fluorescent lamp ballasts, general general lighting fluorescent tubes, general lighting incandescent reflector lamps, general lighting bulbs, exit signs, traffic signal modules, floor lamps.
