USA -Washington Ban Lead in Cookware!

On March 28, 2024, the governor of Washington state signed HB 1551 into law to restrict lead in cookware. The restrictions will become effective on January 1, 2026.

 

This law also authorizes the Washington state department of ecology to punish violations. A person violating a requirement of this chapter, a rule adopted under this chapter, or an order issued under this chapter, is subject to a civil penalty not to exceed $5,000 for each violation in the case of a first offense. Repeat violations are subject to a civil penalty not to exceed $10,000 for each repeat offense.
